Learning kanji is one of the hardest parts of studying Japanese. Millions of learners worldwide rely on methods that have not fundamentally changed in decades: handwriting drills, isolated flashcards, and fixed textbook exercises. These methods demand enormous effort but produce inconsistent results.

 

We built Shiori because we believe there is a better way. By combining established research in memory science with modern AI, we created a tool that helps learners encounter kanji in context, at the right time, in stories that actually matter to them.

 

Our mission is to make kanji learning more effective, more personal, and more sustainable, supporting teachers and schools rather than replacing them.
